Sgoliat
is a remixer from Santa Fe, Argentina. He was studying Electronic
Engineering and quitted just before finishing his career because
of problems of diverse nature, and then he began to be interested
in music
and remixing using a PC, which was in his secret heart since he
was a teenager. He began learning doing some non official versions
of Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Jamiroquai,
etc., and his
style was close to 80's house sound. However, his remixes didn't
keep the melodic structure of the original versions.
In
2003 he met José Tramontini, the KooLTURE group's singer,
since he were sharing with him the musical taste and sympathy
about Pet ShopBoys records. KooLTURE suggested him to remix some
of their songs and the results became well accepted by this group.
Since then he was collaborating with their records, and also relationing
with other artists who he was collaborating too. So he decided
to give form to his talent producing songs and experimenting with
several electronic styles.
His
first official appearance happened due to a remix for LastraX
on the "Crushing Desires" EP, group in which Tecnoman
SF was involved, a known DJ, remixer and producer from the same
town with who he was often relationing. This was his first work
with a more dark electronic sound. Besides these experiences,
he enriched his technical knowledge and made the mastering of
several works. In the internet community his non
official remixes were welcome to the point that some radios from
Mexico was interested in promoting them, specially his versions
of Depeche Mode. This fact and the repeated suggestions from his
friends and from people he was in contact via internet contributed
to make public himself as a remixer and producer, what he's been
doing til these days, and at the same time he's trying to return
to his studies and finish his career.
His
more recent works are related with KooLTURE, more precisely with
the release of the 'Heart' promo CD, a covered song from Pet Shop
Boys, under the Eternal Sunday record label, where he participated
like the co-producer of the album version of the compilation called
'Southern Waves', and also has produced, remixed and masterized
the promo CD. He also has remixed the covered version of the Madonna's
song called "Material Girl", which appears in the same
compilation CD and under the same record label, performed by Virgina
Da Cunha (ex Bandana).
Nowadays
Sergio David Villafañez (that is his real name) is promoting
himself as an independent artist, wanting to learn about new genres
and keeping at the same time his interest about house music in
all its
variations.
